Sonny's First Show

Here is some video of the last day of the show. I think he did great considering that the arena was filled with jumps, people were packing up trailers, horses hollering and PONIES! Yes, there were ponies in the class. Fast, sneaky little ponies. Anyway, all in all, the GJA did a fantastic job. I can't wait for the next show. It will be all Quarter Horses, so I think he will be fairly competitive. It's gotta be easier without the obstacle course and ponies.

Show Results!

Well, the show is over and we made it home in one piece.  "There's no place like home!"  The show was a total sucess!  Vacquero Girl and Lil Mama brought home buckles, and KBG WON the Championship buckle for her class.

The GJA tried really hard for him and considering that it is his first show english I was really happy with his performance.  All in all we finished 9th.  Not too bad for a first timer.  I have some good photos, but the camera is somewhere in the trailer.

Birthday Party and Horse Show. Can't Get Any Better!!!

So we made it to the show, and got all settled in.  The next night was dinner at our trailer, bacon wrapped fillet mignon and lobster tails.  YUM!  All the usual suspects were here, Lil Mama, Vaquero Girl, KBG, LM, and a couple of others including Doris and Boris.

The GJA was really good!  We placed both days so far, 8th on day one and 6th. day 2.

He tried really hard!

One more day to go!!!!

Some Things You Just Can't Make Up!

So today we are leaving for the show.  Trailer is packed, horse washed and clipped, dog items accounted for and guess what I get up to see?  My husband washing the truck and trailer!  Not so odd you might say, but it RAINED last night and lightly raining NOW.

You will notice that he is wearing rain gear to wash the trailer.  Sometimes I just don't get it....

Gathering Cattle!

We went out to gather cattle today for a friend.  We always have fun.  Our neighbor came along for the ride on "his" horse Julie.  Julie is really my hubby's back up horse, but Dave rides her quite a bit.  The reality is that Julie likes Dave better.

So here are the ladies that we have lured to the pen to sort the ones needed to go to the sale.  All goes smoothly and then we are off to gather up a cow and calf that has gone through the fence to the neighbors  pasture.

And off we go!  That's me dressed like the unibomber on Annie, my FAT cowpony.  It was pretty chilly!  Dave in the background and the tip of Tillie's ear.  Really it is just an excuse for a trail ride.

We made it back with the wayward lady and baby and all is well. We will be back to gather more before you know it.

Spring Has Sprung! That Means...TEAM SORTING!!!!!!

Yippee!  Today was the first day of team sorting practise.  I took the Giant Jack Ass just to school since we are going to show next week.  Hubby didn't think that working cows would be really a good idea for the HUS horse.  Anyway, once I get my little paint cowpony tuned up you will know where I'll be on Saturdays.

Here is Keith and Tillie splitting a pair.

Our good friend on her 24 year old TWH.  She is a high school teacher and she hollers and cusses at the cows.  She is a riot!

School teachers hubby.  Also a Sheriff's Posse member.  Has been known to have a good time wherever he is.

And, Sonny, aka Giant Jack Ass, just chillin' at the trailer.  He got off easy!

Stay tuned for all the show happenings starting on Thursday!
Happy Trails!

Gettin' Over Being Sick!

 .
I have had my time in the barrel.  Everyone in this house has been sick once and in my case twice.  My mom was in the hospital with the bad crud and had to come home with an oxygen machine.  She is getting much better, and now I think I am too.  The first show of the year is coming up really quick and I have had a heck of a time staying well enough to ride, thank god for friends.  My buddy Barb came and rode the Giant Jack Ass for me yesterday, I just couldn't get out of my penguin p.j's.  Today was beautiful and Abby the barn kitty and Penny Pinscher had fun playing chase.  You gotta watch out for the kitty's hands though, they are loaded with razor blades!

We also had a new calf born today!  Yippee!  Leaping Lena is the proud mother.  I didn't get close enough to see if it is a boy or girl.  Mom and baby are doing fine.
The house in the background with the falling down fence is my mothers house.  Mom, I promise we will rebuild the fences this year....  Really.

It's a girl and momma is very proud!

Good girl Janelle!

I think Lucy will be next
