Gettin' Out Of The Rut!

Vaquerogirl was sooo right.  Lots of us have just been getting by, doing the same old same old, day after day.  Today, we girls united and broke out!  No stall cleaning, laundry, yard work or whatever it is that we do day after day.  Today was deemed "Girls Day Out".  My girls, "T", my barn helper, and "B", my riding coach and of course,Penny Pinscher,  met at the barn at 11:00 a.m.  We had on clean clothes and shoes(only you folks with horses know the importance of this) and headed to Lincoln to a cafe called "Awful Annies".  It was there that the fun started.  We gossiped and laughed while having an awsome lunch.

Then we loaded back into the truck and went to Christensens Saddlery.  SHOPPING!!!!!  The girls helped me pick out a hunt coat and some shirts.  They managed to find some new lightweight helmets they liked.  I found a helmet that really fit me good, and then the sales lady informed me that it was almost $500.00.  WHAT!!!  My head and the horse I am riding aren't worth that much together.  No helmet for me.

And there you have it.  Women gone amok.

Came home during a fierce rainstorm and saw a car wipeout into a guard rail.  We made it home with all purchases and dog intact.  Will have to make up for it tomorrow, but it was worth it!
Thanks Vaquerogirl!

More rain on the way

We are supposed to get some more rain today and through the week. Even though I am tired of  it, we need it so we have irrigation water this summer.

Yesterday I got this shot of my husband on his horse Tillie
He went out on a trail ride today with the Sheriffs Possee.
I don't do  cold weather trail rides.

Yesterday I left out this photo of Sonny & I doing a beginning jump lesson.
Not fancy, but fun!

And last but not least, these goldfish in our pond were just one inch long feeder fish a couple of years ago.

.

Now they are seven to eight inches long.

Max made it here today!

My shoer, Max stood me up....  He went eventing instead of shoeing here.  Oh well, at least he came today.Sonny just loves him.....

At least I got a short lesson from him while he was here...As a new english rider, I need lots of help...
He is really getting the hang of Hunt Seat.  Me too, sort of.  No cows involved in this class.  What a girl has to do for her horse.

Boris and Doris

Yesterday we delivered Chip to his new home. GASP! I know, we never really sell any horses, they're all mine. He went to my cousins "Boris and Doris". Boris is ready to move up to a new level and this colt has the best temperment in the world. Boris is a VERY busy guy, and Chip is pretty laid back. I think the combo will really work out.

Doris and Boris just bought a BEAUTIFUL new home complete with horse facilities. Chip is going to be really happy here. These are his new friends, Buddy and Lucky.

Along with the colt, Doris and Boris also bought our used manure spreader. It was an interesting load, spreader in the front of the stock trailer and colt in the back. Some assembly required. For the spreader, not the colt. My loving husband bought me this spreader for Christmas one year. The BEST Christmas present EVER! Only you other gals that clean stalls will get this. And since he still loves me, he bought me a new improved edition to keep me rolling.

After some instruction, Doris is off to give it a try.

Looks like she already has the hang of it! And there you go, Doris and Boris out spreading S**t.

Whirlwind Days

Whew! The last few days have been a blur. My mom had cataract surgery, which apparently they can only do before the sun comes up, and then had to see the Dr. early the following morning for a check up. Surgery did not go well, and we had to go the Dr. yet again the next morning only to find out that she must have surgery again the following Tuesday. In between her Dr. visits, Penny Pinscher came down with Kennel Cough and kept my hubby and I up all night until she had her Dr. visit.

Yesterday afternoon after the round of Doctors we broke free for an afternoon of fun and dinner out.

We went to see the Bridgeport covered bridge.

After a little sightseeing we went to Peterson's Corner for dinner. Steak and Shrimp! It was WONDERFUL.

Now, it's time to pay for the play. Max, my shoer is here today. That's a long day considering we have 10 horses. Sheesh!

Another run! More Slip N Slide action!

It's official! There WILL be a slip n slide party this year! Most likely in July. We need a theme! Suggestions?

Come on Sun!

Yesterday was a downright nice day, and I am hoping that today will follow suit! This is our solar panel for the pond bubbler, complete with redneck shims.

Last spring Lucy the cow wasn't feeling well and Wednesday is asking whats wrong.

She hung out with her all day long. Not sure if it was the LA200 or bedside support, but Lucy made a complete recovery.

Say Bye Bye!

What a good day today was. We loaded up the calves we had kept to work and sent them to the sale.

They were a REAL pain in the butt.

The red, white face steer was the worst, needing a long handle hotshot to feed, otherwise the pushy bugger would knock over the feed wagon.
If I would have had a bigger bar b que I'd have eaten him!

Tillie is obsessed with her teeth

We are a class act here, all horses have a complete dental program. Water Pic included.
