Search And Rescue Training

We had a SAR Training at our ranch yesterday and had a great turnout!

We had tons of obstacles and scary things.

Lots of these horses were young.

Whirlwind Trip!

Keith and I made the whirlwind round trip to the bay area, then to Reno and then home.  Why?

Because the oldest son's truck broke down and he had no way to get it back to Reno.

So, Dad handled it.

We took our 450 Ford and A good friends equipment trailer and winched it aboard

Hard work!

Younger brother Travis was around to help.

All done and after Penny's approval, we are ready to go

From here it was another 3 hours to Reno.

It was a good day for a road trip, sunny and beautiful.

Once we made it to Todd's job, (He is a mechanic at Audi)

we loosened up the chains and rolled it off.

Easy as pie.

Then we kissed the boy and we were off again!  We stopped and shopped

at Cabela's and then a steak dinner at one of the casinos.

2 1/2 hours later we made it home.

All for a grand total of 9 1/2 hours total  driving time.

WHEW!

Sometimes you just gotta help the kids.

Men's Tribe Ride Recap

Well, Hubby got back from his Modoc Tribe Ride on Saturday and came

down to the horse show Sunday morning to help me and the GJA show.

Then he hooked up the trailer and loaded all our stuff from the tack stall.
Isn't he just the best!
Anyway, back to the ride. 

All the men, or should I say boys are practical jokers.
One friend of theirs asked them to put up his tent for him
because he was going to get there a little later.

They did.
Look closely and you can see that they thoughtfully added a rope
ladder for easy entry.
Yes indeed, Husband and Boris (of Boris and Doris)
Buck and John can be so very helpful.  Remember NOT to ask them for favors.


The ride itself is beautiful, as I see from photos, since NO women are allowed.

Boris borrowed our good girl Julie for the ride.  His colt was lame a few days

before the ride, so we felt it was better to be

safe than sorry.  Turns out the colt was fine.

At the end, they have a playday rodeo.  Hubby and Boris are mugging

the bull calf to ranch brand.

Then, to Hubby's surprise, he was signed up for roping.

He isn't a roper.

Here he is on a borrowed horse.  His horse Tillie isn't a rope horse.

He did a pretty good job, unfortunately he didn't think to wear a glove.

He missed a dally and got a brutal rope burn

OUCH!  I bet he wears a glove next time...

Glad he is home and pretty much in one piece.

Final Show Results

Whew!  I made it home.  There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home...  Sorry, just really happy to be home..  Over all, I think the GJA and I did really well.  We placed in almost all classes, after they ran out of tall, floaty T.B.'s.  But, the GJA was a saint in his walk trot classes and his lead departures in the green class were pretty darn good.  I have done all I can for him since this is NOT my discipline and, after the show he didn't come home with me.  I sent him home with a trainer that does an awesome job with HUS.  I will be going for lessons and hope to show next year HUS and in equitation classes as well.  I feel good that he is no longer a bronc, but an honest citizen in the horse show world.  Now, I am looking forward to having lessons  and being a part of a really cool  and talented group.  And now Penny Pinscher and I are just whooped.  Getting up at 4:30 a.m. every morning to go to the show grounds to feed was tough. So now,I am going to combine a nap with going to bed early.  Gonna splurge and sleep in until 7:00 a.m.!

Horse Show

Hello from the show.  Thursday's class did not go well.  The GJA was not so good.  For the canter departure he decided to to the Airs Above Ground.  Yes, right in front of the judge.  Oh well, at least we added someting interesting to the class.  Since that didn't go so well, I went back to the hotel and made an appointment at Massage Envy for a massage and facial.  Oh, so worth it!  Yesterday in his green glass he went really well, but the judge just plain didn't like him.  She was all about the T.B. type hunter.  Oh well, I was really happy with how he went.  Today is a new day, and a new judge.  Sorry no photos, I haven't taught Penny how to use the camera yet.  Away we go!

The Men Have Left the Building!

Whew!  My hubby and cousin Boris just left the ranch for their annual boys trip.  It's the Modoc Tribe ride.  They will be gone until Saturday, trail riding, camping, eating and whatever around 70 guys do for a week.  Tillie and Julie didn't look near as excited as the boys this morning when they were loaded into the trailer.  Boris is going to ride Julie 'cause his horse came up a little lame at the last minute.  Anyway, with them gone, Penny and I can get ready for our trip.  We are leaving Wed. for a 4 day horseshow with the GJA.  This time we are staying in a hotel.  It's Penny Pinschers first hotel stay, but I am sure she will do fine.  Hopefully the GJA will cooperate, you just never know!
